Whittier Neighborhood Map

This fabric map, made in partnership with artist Mac Ballentine, depicts the Whittier neighborhood of Minneapolis and was installed in a vacant storefront there during the summer of 2012, as part of the public arts initiative Artists in Storefronts. Local residents were invited to contribute illustrations on canvas squares, with the prompt "What do you want to see in your neighborhood?”, by leaving them in a drop box affixed outside the window. The squares were added to the map periodically over the run of the display.
